After a long drive to get off the Tanami, we arrived at Halls Creek and fueled up and topped up or air pressure again. The last part of the road across the border was much better than the northern territory road.
I walked across the road from the servo to the info centre and bought an all parks holiday pass, $44 and a couple of stickers for the camper trailer. We then searched for the bottle shop, found it and to Gaz's horror discovered we could only purchase light beer! And to really rub it in it cost $57 for a box of cascade light.
We then kept driving out to the pre arranged meeting point, Leycester Rest area on the Ord river. We got there and saw there were quite a few other campers so we decided to go further to spring creek to see what that was like. That was packed, so we came back to the original spot and set up camp. I got dinner, mince and spaghetti for Sam, spaghetti Bolognese for us.
Gaz heated some water over the fire and we all had a wash. Then we were straight to bed. The clock had gone back another 1.5hours when we crossed the border so it was around 8:30 when we went to bed.
We woke up around 6:30am and had a leisurely wake up and coffee, cheesy Bolognese toasts and then went for an adventure along the Ord river. We then came back and got the awning set up and the shower tent so we could have a nice welcome for the others when they arrive. Steaks were taken out of the freezer and defrosted by the time we came back from our walk.
It is really warm in the sun now, definitely t-shirt and shorts weather. It's snowing in Oberon at the moment.
