We set the alarm for 6am to get up and see the sunrise on Uluru. The viewing area was packed with people and the sunrise not as spectacular as the sunset but it got us up earlier. We came back to the campsite and started packing up whilst cooking bacon eggs and mushrooms for breakfast. It was windy and the gas cooker was taking forever to cook anything even boiling the water for a cup of coffee was a nightmare.
We filled all the water cans and tank and then drove out off the campground at 11am ish. I have keyed in the lookout, a campsite on wiki camps that is just past the kings canyon resort. It should take about 4 hours and 20 minutes.
When planning our trip out this way I had originally planned to camp on the sand dunes just prior to Yulara. In hindsight I think I would definitely do the sand dunes. While driving out you could see the rock quite clearly out you walked to the top of a dune. Must remember this for next time.
Sam did have fun playing in the playground and comparing bandaid's with the other kids. We need to get him bigger wheels for his scooter that's all he wants too so as soon as he is out of the car.
