Bruinbun End of 2011

Bruinbun was introduced to us by Daryn Harvey and his family, we first headed out to Bruinbun just before we picked up the campertrailer - we camped out in out tent on a comfy mattress under a couple of doonas - Sam snuggled in with us.  We set up a second tent for Emily  We woke up to minus 5.7 degrees in the morning and took a while to defrost everything before we got moving.  Gaz, Emily Sam and I were the last ones to leave - and you wouldn't believe it - we couldn't start the car - the battery was flat.  We were in the middle of nowhere, no mobile phone reception (Emily and I even walked to the top of a hill to try to find reception, meanwhile Gaz had an interesting encounter with an old man and his Ol' Woman (If you could call her that) - anyway the man was happy to help Gaz out - they both spent a bit of time trying to get the landcruiser going - finally managed it - in the meantime the woman  was carrying on swearing and yelling out she was going to leave him - just because he stopped to help.  He muttered under his breath to Gaz - "dont worry she'll be dead soon"

She had an agressive form of cancer that had changed her whole way of being.

Anyway - onto recent times.

Again we met up with Daryn Harvey and his family, Erick Denis and his family joined us this time.  The camp area is about 45 mins outside of Bathurst on the banks of the Macquarie river.

We had organised before we headed out to have a cookup all together - we bought a pork, the Harveys bought a chicken and Ericks family brought bread rolls and salad.  We got both campovens going from early to mid morning and by the mid afternoon we had a wonderful feast!!  We cut the crackling off the pork through and fried it up on the hotplate over the fire - it just hadn't gotten hot enough to make crackling.  The roasts took around 8hours.
