Yep we started the telegraph track! We originally keyed in Bramwell Roadhouse to ask about the track and see if we could hook up with other people. We left the campsite at Coen around 9:30am went back into Coen for fuel and hit the road around 10am or just before.
We stopped at Moreton telegraph station and met up with a family from Geelong that were doing much the same as we were. We had lunch then kept heading to Bramwell roadhouse.
We meet up with the family there again and everyone at the roadhouse were saying we might not make it through the first crossing but we should go and have a look. We went out and had a look. Heaps of people were heading out but no one was game to go through! Gaz and Simon walked around and came up with a plan to get through Palm creek crossing which seems to be the new gunshot.
So we decided we'd do it. We had a lot of cynics but Gaz went first we had to get winched out the otherwise but it was great. I got it all on film - well most of it as some was off camera when I lost concentration filming. Simon and family went through second they needed winching out too. But our two family's with the camper trailers set the level and soon a line of other cars started following.
We watched a few crossings then drove down the track a bit further to Ducie creek (we should have checked the footnotes and maybe walked this crossing before we attempted it) but we didn't. We drove straight through and suddenly a big bow wave was up and over the bonnet of the car! Hehehehe but we made it across and set up camp on the other side.
We didn't start setting up camp until after 5pm luckily we had left over stir fry we could heat up.
