We took our time in the morning and went for a walk to the falls and went for a swim. It was gorgeous!
We didn't end up leaving Elliot falls until 11:45am. We crossed Canal creek where there were a heap of people just camped out watching the river crossings waiting for someone to come unstuck. It wasn't a hard crossing but there was one woman there who was making a scene saying there was no way she was crossing that! I took some nice footage of the crossing from the other side.
Next crossing was Sams creek which I filmed from inside the car. Then we started to head back out to the main road toward Bamaga via the Jardine ferry crossing. It cost $99 for a return ticket which includes a permit to camp anywhere north of the river. We took a few photos, picked up another sticker and filmed the crossing from in the car.
We got into Bamaga around 3:20pm and went straight to the supermarket then to the bottle shop to re stock. A case of XXXX and small cask of red cost $85. We didn't even buy any more meat as it was so expensive and a lettuce cost $5!
On our journey there were heaps of signs on the side of the road using the word magic. They all related to Alau campground at Umagico they offered sites beach front over looking the islands for $10 per person per night with kids under 12 for free. We decided to go there so we could have showers and do some washing. It was lovely and we got some awesome sunset shots. Only problem was we couldn't go swimming in the water because there are definitely salt water crocs in the water. We were told there is a local croc that swims past where we camped around 9pm every night.
The kids loved just playing in the sand and running through the sprinklers.
This would be our last night with the Gray family as they needed to be back in Geelong by 23 July! This prob would not happen but they did have to start heading back.
